”知的好奇心が旺盛な大人のための音楽番組”というコンセプトを掲げて「TOKYO MOON」は13年前の
1月3日にスタートした。当初は日曜の午後7時からの30分番組だったので、かなりシックな楽曲ばかり
を選曲していたが、放送時間と曜日の変更を数度繰り返していくなかで時間も拡大し、アンビエント
からダンス・ミュージックまでという現在のエクレクティックな番組カラーに落ち着いていった。
2016年にはタイトルを冠したディスクガイドとコンピレイション2作品を同時にリリースする幸運に恵ま
れた。2020年夏、長引くコロナ禍で音楽活動の継続が危ぶまれたときには番組の10周年に合わせ、
番組リスナーである各界のアーティストの力を借り、クリエイティヴマインドが刺激されるようなリターンを
フィーチャーしたクラウドファンディングを実施し、大成功を収めた。それにより番組リスナーとの絆は
より深まり、以降毎週のようにSNSのトレンド入りを果たすようになった。それは更に挑戦的な選曲に
向かう自信と力を与えてくれた。
”災い転じて福となす”といったところか。
そして前作から7年、今月3作目となる新しいコンピレイションをリリースすることになった。
Robert Glasper Experimentのベーシストとしても知られるDerrick Hodgeのピアノとヴォーカルのハーモニ
ーが美しい「Looking At You」で幕を開け、フランスからパキスタン、コロンビアにルーツを持つアーティ
ストの情緒的な世界へ繋がり、キューバからアフロと大陸とジャンルを横断しながら旅は続く。
そして実力派ジャズ・シンガー、Kurt Ellingのスピリチュアルなジャズナンバーからメキシコ人ピアニスト、
コンポーザーによるビッグバンドラテンジャズでテンションは最高潮へ。その後Meshell Ndegeocelloプロ
デュースによるMarcus Stricklandのジャズとソウルのクロスするナンバーで”落とし”始め、Coltraneの名曲
「Naima」の未発表テイクで幕を閉じる。
ジャズを中心に番組でオンエアした思い入れの強い楽曲の中から選りすぐった16曲。

TOKYO MOON started 13 years ago on 3 January. The show started out as a half-hour show on Sundays
at 7pm, with a rather chic selection of music, but over the course of several changes of airtime and days of
the week, it expanded its hours and settled into its current eclectic selection from ambient to dance music.
In 2016, a disc guide and two compilations bearing the title were released simultaneously.In the summer of
2020, when the prolonged Corona disaster threatened the continuation of music, the show celebrated its10th
anniversary with the help of the show’s listeners, artists from all walks of life, and featured a return that stimulated
creative minds. The crowdfunding campaign was a great success. This has strengthened the bond with the show’s
listeners and has since become a weekly trending topic on social networking sites. It gave them the confidence
and strength to move towards even more challenging track selections.
It’s been a blessing in disguise. And now, seven years on from last compilations, it releasing my third new compilation
this month.
The album opens with ‘Looking At You’ The piano and vocal harmonies of Derrick Hodge, also known as the bassist
of Robert Glasper Experiment, is so beautiful.and leads into the emotional world of an artist with roots from France to
Pakistan to Colombia, from Cuba to Afro and back again.
The tension builds to a climax with a spiritual jazz number by talented jazz singer Kurt Elling, followed by big band Latin
jazz from a Mexican pianist and composer Arturo O’Farrill. Afterwards.
The album then ‘dropped’ into a jazz-soul cross between Marcus Strickland’s jazz and soul numbers, produced by
Meshell Ndegeocello, and closed with an unreleased take of Coltrane’s classic ‘Naima’.

The album features 16 tracks selected from among the highly emotional tracks aired on the show, with a focus on jazz.
